Chapter 46 is officially posted! I hope to have regular updates until the end of the story.
I’m really surprised that so many people are still hating on Charlie. The term “blackmail” has been tossed around more than once. I never considered what Charlie did to be blackmail. Sure, he operated under the assumption that Edward would agree to his terms, but he never threatened to put Edward back in prison if he didn’t move out.
Should Charlie have intervened in his adult daughter’s relationship? Who’s to say. He did what he thought was best for Bella. He didn’t tell Edward to stay away from her, only to put space between them, probably to keep them from becoming too dependent on each other.
Did Edward have to move out? No. He could have stayed with her, made excuses for not being able to find anywhere else to live, or even turned Bella against Charlie. Ultimately he recognized that Charlie did him a great favor, and he found a new place to live out of respect for a man whose family he may one day join.
And should Edward tell Bella what transpired between him and her father? Again, there’s no right or wrong answer. He decided to handle the situation how he felt was best, just as Charlie did.
