{teaser} Adore, Adore Part 6

This Adore, Adore teaser is for the lovely @judo_lin. She gets an teaser in exchange for yesterday’s early update of Wisp. Don’t tell her she got the raw end of the deal.

As you know, this chapter takes place at the Cullens’ house. This may or may not be riddled with errors and is subject to (and most likely will) change.

There was a creak in the hallway, too loud to be the house settling. I sat up, holding my breath as a shadow moved outside the door. I imagined Edward standing on the other side. Would he knock? Would he try the handle, only to find it locked? What would he say? Would he demand I join him for the evening, knowing his parents were under the same roof?

The silence outside the door was unsettling. After a few more moments, the shadow disappeared and soft footsteps padded down the hallway. I collapsed on the bed and let out a deep breath. He didn’t do anything. Surprisingly I was . . . disappointed.

My phone buzzed with a new text message, and I flew off the bed to get to it.

Are you still awake?

I hesitated, deciding how to respond. I didn’t want to ignore him, but I didn’t want to seem needy, either.

Yes.

What are you doing?

Lying here unable to sleep sounded lame, so instead of telling Edward the truth, I decided to have some fun at his expense.

Rummaging through your porn stash.

Liar.

I was lying, but I liked getting him worked up.

Are you telling me you didn’t hide dirty magazines under your bed?

Of course I did. Do you think I didn’t take them with me when I moved out?

So that explains why I didn’t find any.

Stay out of my stuff.

What are you hiding?

Five minutes went by without a response. I wondered if I offended him, or maybe my comment struck a chord. I was about to give up and go back to bed when I received another message.

Look in the nightstand, under the liner.

I was on my feet, my phone forgotten. I turned on the lamp and, as quietly as possible, removed the contents from the nightstand drawer. One corner of the liner was pulled up. I gripped it between my fingertips, careful not to tear it as I slowly peeled it back. I held my breath, anticipating what treasure I would find, what secrets of Edward’s past lie beneath.

It was empty.

Finding my phone where it tumbled to the floor, I sent him another message.

There wasn’t anything there.

I didn’t know him well enough to predict how he would react. Edward didn’t seem like the type of man to sit and stew in silence. I half expected him to barge through the door at any moment, furious and frantic as he searched for the missing item.

His response infuriated me.

I know. ;)

He winky faced me! How dare he winky face me? I was supposed to be toying with him, not the other way around.

I kept my reply short.

Good night, Edward.

Good night, beautiful.

Definitely, enjoyed the teaser. No matter how much effort Bella expends, Edward out maneuvers her each time. I imagine Edward has had lots of years fine tuning his game of tease and withdraw, but I do love that Bella continues to give it the ole college try. LOL

Gee, sort of surprised me that Edward gave Bella his childhood bedroom, and rather surprised me that he did not share room with her. I guess he more conventional that he likes to portray.

“Hints and Reveals”, oh boy, I can’t wait! I am just glad that in the teazer you didn’t end it at, “Look in the nightsatnd under the liner.” Now, that would have been a teazer. A really, really, nasty teazer. :)
