{a/n} Inside Man Chapter 43 & 44

There has been a bit of confusion about Chapters 43 and 44. #authorfail

The chapters aren’t posted on this site yet because they both contain letters and I’ve been too lazy to make them. Also, this author’s note is kind of spoileryish, so I suggest you read the updates before continuing to read this post.

First, for those who are confused, no this isn’t the end. There’s still a bit more to come.

There is about a 4 week jump from the last normal chapter to the April 21 letter from Edward. Edward has only been out of Bella’s for a week (The past week has been hard, but I think this will be good for us both.). Also, in case it wasn’t clear, Edward is staying at Carlisle’s. There is another 6 weeks between the letter from Edward and the letter from Bella. Why so long? Because I’m using letters to jump ahead in time.

Some common concerns I’ve received: Will there be sleepovers? Yes. Why doesn’t he call her on the phone? He does. Why is it so short? Because it’s a letter. Why is he writing a letter? Because we are coming full circle!

In regard to Charlie’s demand and Edward’s decision to lie by omission:

Edward didn’t move out because he had to (not that Charlie could technically make him leave, especially seeing any address change is contingent on the parole board approving it) as much as he left because Charlie is Bella’s father, and Edward is respecting his wishes. Charlie didn’t say they couldn’t see each other, only that he didn’t want them living together. The last thing Edward wants to do is give the proverbial middle finger to someone who not only helped him out of a hopeless situation, but someone who he wants approval from as well.

Edward didn’t tell Bella the truth because he doesn’t want his presence in her life to affect her relationship with her father more than it already has. Is it lying if he doesn’t tell her what Charlie demanded? Technically yes, but in the end, right or wrong, Edward did what he felt was best.

Charlie also isn’t trying to drive them apart. He wouldn’t approve of Bella cohabitating with any man at the age of 22, especially when she doesn’t have her life figured out yet. Throw in the mix Edward’s history and age difference, and I think it’s understandable that he would want him out of there. He just wants to make sure Bella doesn’t get stuck in a situation she doesn’t know how to get out of.

Lots of people wondered after reading “The Altercation” what the point of that chapter was (no, I really wasn’t being evil for the sake of being evil). At this point I think it’s safe to say not only was it a way of redemption for Charlie, but also the turning point that Bella needed to repair her relationship with her father. My stories cut to the chase relatively quickly. Most of the stuff I write happens for a reason. ;)

Thank you for answering all of my questions…. even the ones I didn’t know I had. :0))

    Hey Girl:

I read your story shortly before the voting ended. So glad I did. I am really enjoying reading an out of character “Edward” as you have portrayed him. Seems refreshing not to have him as wealthy–just a bit more down to earth than is he is usually in most Fictions.

Anyways, I read the entire fic in an afternoon, and was able to vote positively, since I so thoroughly enjoyed “Inside Man”. Actually cannot wait for the rest of the story.

    Thanks again, and congratulations!

Thanks! I’m glad you are enjoying it.

It’s been fun, writing an Edward who isn’t wealthy and doesn’t really have anything to his name. :)

Hey! I just wanted to reassure you that you doing a great job with Inside Man. I hadn’t had any doubts while reading it. Those few last chapters were pretty self-explanatory, as any good story should be! So… yeah, don’t worry, you’re not a fail author, trust me! hahahah
