“My shift is over in an hour. Do you want to hang out after?”
I felt my eyes widen and clamped my mouth shut to keep my jaw from dropping to the floor. Were my ears playing tricks on me? There’s no way she just asked if I wanted to hang out. I looked behind me quickly to double check that she wasn’t talking to someone else.
“I’m sorry,” she said when I didn’t answer. “You’re doing a bachelor party thing, aren’t you? I don’t want to pull you away from your friends. Forget I asked.”
“No!” I all but yelled. “No, no, that’s okay!” Bella must have found my enthusiasm entertaining because smiled brightly and started to laugh. Evoking that reaction from her made me ecstatic. “It’s not a big deal. They won’t mind.”
“All right,” she said. “Where are you guys going? I can meet you there when I get off. I mean, if you’re sure it’ll be okay.”
“Of course it is.” I really didn’t give a shit whether Emmett and Jasper cared that she was going to crash the party. I was not going to blow this opportunity. The three of us hung out all the time. Surely Jasper wouldn’t begrudge me the company of a girl on the eve of his wedding—true love and soul mates and all that stuff.
