Running for Home Chapter 19

Bella

“Oh my gosh, I can’t believe it’s you!” Alice gushes.

I stand there in shock and confusion as I stare at my best friend. My brain is slow to register what is happening. If we are supposed to be at Edward’s father’s house then why is Alice here? Is this some sort of elaborate surprise?

A quick glance at Edward tells me that it’s not. By the look on his face, he is obviously not in on the impromptu reunion. His jaw hangs open as he stares blankly at Alice.

“What are you doing here?” she asks before wrapping her arms around me. I’m at a loss for what to say and, honestly, I have no idea what I’m doing here. Over her shoulder, I see Edward shake his head imperceptibly. “I’m sorry,” she continues before I can think of an answer. “I forgot to text the address to Edward. Oh!” Alice releases me and whips her head around to take a quick look at Edward. Turning back to me, she grips both of my shoulders firmly. “Is that him?” she whispers even though he’s within earshot. “Oh my gosh, he’s so cute.”
